Half Fare To Palmerston North by Dorothy Corry

Story Review

Half Fare To Palmerston North by Dorothy Corry

Half Fare to Palmerston North by Dorothy Corry is a story about a boy named Luke. Luke’s parent were separated. Luke’s mum lived in Palmerston North with her partner.  Luke was living with his father, things were not going so well since mum and dad separated. When Luke got home his dad was angry at him because he was concerned about his behavior at school ,and dad hit Luke with a magazine on his head and Luke was shocked, then Luke said”I’m moving out”. Luke was going to Palmerston North.

The problem was solved when dad came to apologize for what he had done, and Luke had apologize too for leaving home. I like this story because it interesting and it  was hard to look for answers in the story, and that what makes it more interesting for me.

A Natural Act

A Natural Act by David Hill

A Natural Actor by David Hill is a story about a little girl named Tanya who was frightened of going on the stage to perform a play. When it was Tanya’s turn to go on the stage,  she started coughing so Mrs Yee tried to blend in to the play to give Tanya some coughing lollies to stop the coughing.

Suddenly Tanya started to have hiccups and the audience laughed, because they must have thought it was part of her act. The problem was solved by Mrs Yee when  Tanya was given  some coughing lollies.

I liked this story because it was funny and the audience thought that the cough and the hiccups were part of her act.

The Big Game

         Story Review

The Big Game By Sue Gibbison

This story is about the big  rugby game held in their town where the children  wanted to go. The children  really wanted to go to the rugby  game, but mum  had one condition and that was doing  chores for mum. The kids  did the chores without complaining because they really wanted  to go to the big rugby game in their town.

Mum wished that there were more big games more often in their town so that the kids could do more chores for her.

The characters in this story are Mum, Karla, Shane and the author. This story took place at the Rugby Park and part at home.

I felt  that it was an interesting story because the children wanted to watch the big rugby game and mum was able to get the children to  do the chores for her

How Waves Are Made?

How Waves Are Made?

1. Waves are mainly a product of the wind.

2. Wind is the first step in the formation of surfable waves.

Z
3. Local shore winds can also produce waves, but they can also destroy the quality of the breaking waves.

4.  Swell comes from miles away and the ground wind works as a pause hold effect on the top of the surface.

5. Off shore winds are a sort of a counterbalance.

6. More waves are generated by the power of the gusts.

7. If low pressure winds affect a very large area of the ocean, all waves produced by the swell will have more energy and power.

8. Swells will be bigger because energy is gathering in all waves produced.
How is a wave formed: wind is the source of the surf

Softball

On Wednesday at school, Room 7 students went out on the field to play softball. Dora and I went to get the softball gear out of the sports shed because we are the sports monitor. We got out the bag of glove, bat, balls, helmet, and the bases too.

After that Dora and I went up the field with the gear and we have to to set it up. Next, our teacher told us to line up in our lines so we can do the teams. When we got into our teams I went straight away to get the ball, because I wanted to be the pitcher .

Later on, we started to play. I threw the ball under arm, then my friend Dora hit the ball over our heads, and she ran around the bases and she got a home run, but my team tried hard to get her out.  Then I said “Good run Dora”, then she said” Thanks”.

After  that the next batter up was Fraser. When Fraser picked up the bat he was already ready to  bat and I said to the person at base one “Alfred do you want to swap?” and he said “ Okay”. Alfred threw the ball under arm, and Fraser hit the ball so far no one could catch it. After Fraser stopped on base 3, because we will get him out at home base.

Lastly, Mrs Sigamony  told us “ Get the bases and give it to the monitors”.  Dora and I went to pack up the bases and get the gloves, balls and the bat. When we finished packing the gear we put it in the shed and went back into class. It was so fun playing.

What Is Causing Pollution In The Earth? By Fusi Faavae

What Is Causing Pollution In The Earth ?

Who Is Polluting The Air ?
People are using Vehicles and Motorcycles, and bad smokes comes out of the vehicles and thats how it pollutes the air.

Who Stop The Earth From Polluting The Air ?
There are people trying to stop the earth from polluting the air, because they notice that their country is in a lot of trouble with bad air, so they started to use other transport that does not need to have gas in it. Like Bicycles, and Rickshaws.

Why do we care about the earth?

We care about the earth because it’s important to us. It is where we live and also it is causing and affecting other people and affecting animals and creatures too.
